Young people in Uganda are not waiting for change — they are leading it. Across Central Uganda, youth and grassroots communities are responding to climate change with practical solutions: restoring degraded ecosystems, promoting climate-smart agriculture, innovating in clean energy, advocating for climate justice, and mobilizing their peers in schools and communities. Yet despite this momentum, many young climate leaders remain disconnected from formal policy processes and decision-making spaces.

Why This Summit Matters

Uganda’s young population is increasingly experiencing the direct impacts of climate change — erratic rainfall, flooding, biodiversity loss, and livelihood disruptions. While youth-led climate initiatives continue to grow, structured platforms for meaningful engagement between grassroots youth and policymakers remain limited.

An intergenerational gap persists in climate discourse:

    • Young people often feel excluded from decision-making.

    • Policymakers lack accessible channels to engage grassroots youth voices.
    • The Toto Climate Summit 2026 is designed to bridge this divide — creating a shared space for dialogue, collaboration, and co-creation of solutions.

  •

Under the theme “Voices from the Ground: Amplifying Grassroots Climate Action,” the summit will spotlight the power of community-driven climate solutions and explore pathways to amplify them through partnerships, policy engagement, and innovation.

This is about more than conversation. It is about:

    • Connecting local solutions to national and global climate frameworks.

    • Strengthening youth capacity in advocacy and entrepreneurship.

    • Ensuring grassroots perspectives shape climate governance.

  •

Through interactive sessions, panels, innovation showcases, and collaborative workshops, participants will:

    • Engage in structured intergenerational dialogue on climate governance.

    • Build skills in policy advocacy, resource mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.

    • Showcase youth-led climate innovations.

    • Co-develop and present the Toto Climate Declaration 2026 — a collective youth position to inform policy and action.

Beyond the Summit: Sustaining Momentum

The Toto Climate Summit 2026 is not a one-day event — it is the foundation of a sustained movement.

Post-summit follow-up will include:

    • Establishment of a Central Uganda Youth Climate Network

    • Quarterly virtual engagements among participants

    • Mentorship linkages between experienced climate actors and emerging youth leaders

    • Publication of a summit report and continued media engagement
